In recent years, Romanian companies with a long industrial history have come to see digitalisation as an opportunity to work with local startups - and Rombat, one of the country's most important industrial players, did exactly that. Rombat digitalised its production lines with KFactory, then "the only Industry 4.0 startup financed in Romania."
About Rombat
Rombat has been active on the Romanian market for over 40 years and is a leader in the battery market for cars, trucks and motorcycles. The Bistrita-based company also has numerous collaborations with international manufacturers, supplying batteries to OEMs across Europe.
From post-facto to real-time
Rombat implemented the KFactory platform on a complex battery production line composed of multiple types of industrial equipment. The implementation lasted 8 weeks. The transformation Rombat achieved was a shift from post-facto reporting to real-time, automated analysis - one capable of stitching together multiple data points coming off the line as production runs.
The result is a digitalisation programme that increases productivity rather than just digitising paperwork.
From pilot to scale
Following the pilot project rolled out in September, the KFactory system was deployed across additional production lines in April 2022 - a clear signal that the value proven in the pilot held up at scale. Manufacturers exploring a similar path can read about how the Operate pillar shows up on the line, or take the free Industry 4.0 readiness assessment as a starting point.
